400 Volt High Frequency Lighting Kits

Traditional magnetic and digital ballasts run HID lighting on 230v. The latest units are being manufactured using components that run at 400v due to the higher efficiency that the higher voltage brings. On the whole, 400v systems can produce 10% more light for the same amount of electrical power usage, so will increase your yields. If you want more info on 400v lighting systems and how to use them in your indoor garden, read our buyers guide below.

400v High Frequency Fixtures

The latest technology for digital fixtures!

400v light fixtures transform the 230v delivered to our houses and business and transforms it up to 400v as it passes through the ballast on the way to the lamp. This allows as much as 10% more light to be produced for the same electrical input as traditional 230v units.

Due to the specialist components that operate at a higher frequency, there’s less wear on bulbs so they are much longer lasting – maintaining a high output for a long life span meaning less frequent bulb changes for you.

400v fixtures can be single ended (SE) or double ended (DE). DE fixtures cannot be vertically hung, meaning they should only be hung horizontally above plants. You’ll need to replace your fixture’s bulb with like for like lamps as DE bulbs cannot be used in SE fixtures and vice versa. Also be extremely with SE fixtures as you can accidentally install E40 230v bulbs which will explode if powered by a 400v ballast .

The initial cost of 400v units is much more expensive, but they’re cheaper to run and the components don’t have to be replaced as often so you save money on running costs over time.

An increasing number of 400v systems are compatible with controllers, allowing precise dimming, asynchronous day and night times and temperature controls of 100s of units at a time.

Many professional growers are swapping over to 400v fixtures and CMH supplemental as the 400v HPS provides an increased yield, while the ceramic metal halide fixtures increase quality, providing the best of both worlds.
