Need a ballast to start up your setup? No worries! The Maxibright Compact Magnetic Ballast guarantees you a quality piece for excellent value! Ideal for beginners or for use just as a spare or backup unit!


All internal components have been resin-coated to ensure you have a smooth and silent performance in every case. And speaking of the case, it has been beautifully injection-moulded to be resilient to any situation, and as a bonus, the Maxibright Compact Magnetic Ballast has been designed to be incredibly compact and compatible with both HPS and MH type lamps!


Box contains:


  • - 1 Maxibright Compact Ballast with an attached 1.5m length input cable as well as an attached 0.5m length output cable.
  • - 1 IEE (Kettle type) Socket.

The simplistic design of the Maxibright Compact Magnetic Ballast allows it to convert mains electricity to both the correct voltage and current, enabling it to power a 250, 600 or 1000 Watt HPS or MH lamp with ease.


Please double-check the wattage of the lamp you are using matches the wattage of the ballast as if there is a discrepancy then there is a risk of fire and/or damage to your equipment. It’s important to note that when a ballast is first switched on, there is a large inrush of electricity and if enough ballasts are switched on at once, it may short the mains supply. It should be noted that the Maxibright Compact Magnetic Ballast generates some heat during use and should not be used on a carpet and should always be used only in a well-ventilated location. We recommend avoiding covering the unit and keeping any combustible items well clear of it for safety. In the event of an interruption to the mains supply, it is possible that the lamp will not be able to be restarted until the ballast has cooled down, so please allow it some time to cool.


To use, simply connect the input lead of your reflector to the output lead of the ballast. You should ensure that there is some slack in the cable and that the lamp is securely screwed into the bulb-holder, and make sure that your reflector is set at an appropriate height. Next, connect up the mains plug into an electrical outlet and you are all ready to go!

Standard UK mainland orders over £60.00 are eligible for a free standard next working day delivery service (Mon – Fri)*.


  • *Free delivery includes orders up to, and not exceeding, 30kg, that fit in a single, standard shipping box.
  • *Free delivery may exclude orders containing one or more long/large volume items. Examples of large volume items are, but are not limited to, bags of media (clay balls, perlite, soil etc.) Long items refer to any product over 1m - surcharges may apply.

Where possible, orders received by 2:30pm Mon – Fri are dispatched the same day. (*Excluding Garden Power Tools).

All prices shown below are per parcel with a maximum weight of 30 kg per parcel. Items over 30 kg are split into multiple boxes and charged per box at a cheaper rate.

Future Garden are not liable for any additional fees that may be incurred. Any unexpected costs must be paid by you (the customer).

Non-Delivery of Parcels - If your order has not been received, please notify us within 7 working days of the expected delivery date on 01708 320 230 or via email info@futuregarden.co.uk. Prompt notification allows us to investigate the issue within the time limits set by our courier and to raise a claim for any lost or missing parcel. This requirement does not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer law; however, delays in reporting non-delivery may impact our ability to recover costs from the courier and may affect the resolution process.

Delivery services provided online are estimates. There may be unforeseen delays with your order, especially around our busiest time of year. Very busy periods can see very high volumes of parcels being collected, processed and delivered. As per the Consumer Contract Regulations June 2014, you can return goods and receive a full refund under the following conditions:

  • You have had the goods delivered within seven working days of delivery from Future Garden Ltd, this starts from the day after the goods have been signed for.
  • The items are unopened and in the original condition as when they were delivered to you.

or

  • The items have developed a fault during standard use.
  • The items are within the manufacturer's warranty period.
