How Do I Sow Thompson & Morgan Lavender Munstead Seeds?
Garden tip: Thompson & Morgan seed packets show full details of sowing and transplanting instructions.
Sowing Lavender Munstead Seeds
Sow Lavender Munstead seeds from late winter to summer.
Garden tip: For the best results, the seeds need some time in a cold environment to mimic winter conditions. So it's best to pre-chill the Lavender Munstead seeds before sowing.
- In late winter, sow the Lavender Munstead seeds just below the surface of any good seed compost in a heated or standard propagator.
- Put the propagator in a cold under-10C room or fridge for 6-weeks to mimic winter conditions – occasionally check to make sure seeds don't germinate yet.
- After around 6-weeks, set the heated propagator to, or place the propagator in a room at a temperature of 15-18C (60-65F).
- Germination should take 1-3 months after this point.
When Should I Transplant & Harden Off Thompson & Morgan Lavender Munstead Seedlings Grown Inside?
Transplant seedlings when the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 8 cm (3in) pots and place in a cold frame and plant out in spring 60 cm (24in) apart.
Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost 38 cm (15in) apart.
