What is Westland Bone Meal Root Builder?

Westland bone meal is a naturally sourced plant food containing a natural source of two of three major nutrients: nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) it also contains calcium. The Nitrogen supports green growth, Calcium keeps your plants both healthy and strong and the Phosphorus encourages roots to grow bigger and stronger.


Bone Meal is perfect for maintaining trees and shrubs, but is also great for hedges and even root vegetables.


How Does Bone Meal Benefit My Shrubs and Trees?

Bone Meal has a high phosphorus content with a small amount of nitrogen. This balance is ideal for encouraging strong root growth. The organic nutrients in the fertiliser are gently released into the soil over an extended period of time.


How Do I Use Westland Bone Meal Root Builder?

For comparison purposes, while you're out in the garden: one handful of Fish, Blood and Bone is about 35g (1 ¼ oz). You can apply bone meal root builder every 4-6 weeks to help build and sustain good soil fertility. Only apply bone meal root builder when plants show signs of needing it, during the growing season.


For the best results:


  • Feed when from February. You can stop around the end of October
  • Work the granules into the soil with a fork, rake or hoe
  • During dry weather, water well before and after application

Trees and Shrubs – Established plants

Apply 135g/sq. m (5 oz/sq. yd) around the base. Gently fork into the soil surface without disturbing the roots. Alternatively, sprinkle the product over the soil surface, around the stem of the plant and water in well.


Trees and Shrubs – New plantings

Apply 135g/sq. m (5 oz/sq. yd) to the bottom of the planting hole and mix well with soil or compost when refilling the hole.


Flowers

Apply 135g/sq. m (5 oz/sq. yd) to the soil surface and fork in. Take care that the granules do not touch the plant leaves or stems. Water in well after application.


Vegetables

Apply 70g/sq. m (2 ½ oz/sq. yd) as a top dressing to the soil surface and work in well.


General Advice

The following is general advice to follow to cover plant health, safety advice and storing the product. Always follow the instructions and safety advice on the product package:


  • Do not exceed the appropriate application rate
  • Increasing the dosage may result in damage to your plants
  • Store in a dry, frost free place away from children, pets and foodstuff
  • Wash hands and exposed skin after use. Gloves are recommended when handling this product
  • Land where the product has been applied should not be used for grazing or cropping for feedingstuffs within the following periods (a) (two months in the case of pigs; and (b) three weeks in the case of other farm animals
  • Children and pets can continue to use treated areas immediately after application. Some dogs may be attracted to eat the product, to avoid this we recommend mixing well with the soil.

As per the Consumer Contract Regulations June 2014, you can return goods and receive a full refund under the following conditions:

  • You have had the goods delivered within seven working days of delivery from Future Garden Ltd, this starts from the day after the goods have been signed for.
  • The items are unopened and in the original condition as when they were delivered to you.

  • The items have developed a fault during standard use.
  • The items are within the manufacturer's warranty period.
