What is the TrolMaster Hydro-X CO2 Sensor?
The TrolMaster Hydro-X CO2 Sensor (MBS-S8) measures the CO2 within your growing area in PPM (Parts Per Million).
The Trolmaster Hydro-X CO2 Sensor is compatible with the TrolMaster Hydro-X Controller.
Features and Benefits of the TrolMaster Hydro-X CO2 Sensor
Built-In Photocell Detects Day/Night Mode
The TrolMaster Hydro-X CO2 Sensor can detect when your grow room switches to “night” or “lights off” mode and adjust the CO2 distribution accordingly. This is important because, at night, plants do not uptake CO2 for photosynthesis. Therefore, maintaining artificially high levels of CO2 is not necessary.
Plug & Play
The TrolMaster Hydro-X CO2 Sensor comes with everything you need to monitor CO2 levels straight out of the box. This includes:
- 1 x CO2 Sensor (MBS-S8)
- 1 x 16ft RJ12 Cable
- 1 x RJ12 T-Splitter
How Does the TrolMaster Hydro-X CO2 Sensor Work?
The TrolMaster Hydro-X CO2 Sensor allows you to monitor CO2 levels.
To allow the system to automate the supply of CO2 to your grow room, you'll need a CO2 sensor device paired with either:
- Solenoid controlled automated CO2 generator (CO2 burner) or;
- CO2 bottle and solenoid controlled CO2 regulator
TrolMaster Hydro-X CO2 Monitor Automates Controlling Grow Room CO2 Levels
To automate the addition of supplemental CO2, you need to use the CO2 sensor and CO2 Device with a compatible solenoid valve controlled CO2 regulator. You can also use a propane or natural gas CO2 generator. In either case, a compatible solenoid valve is the essential component.
When CO2 levels drop below the specified level, the TrolMaster Hydro-X Controller will signal to the CO2 Device to power on. This opens the solenoid valve and releases CO2 to enhance the CO2 levels in the grow room.
What Is a Solenoid Valve?
A Solenoid valve is an electrically controlled valve that commonly operate in a “usually off” mode. This means it defaults to closed when there is no power applied to it. When the TrolMaster Hydro-X controller signals for power to be applied to the solenoid, it opens and allows the flow of CO2 gas.
Automating CO2 Levels With The TrolMaster Hydro-X Controller and CO2 Sensor
Applying Additional CO2
When the TrolMaster Hydro-X CO2 sensor detects the CO2 levels are below your pre-set levels, it triggers the TrolMaster Hydro-X controller to call for the solenoid valve to open. The controller sends a signal to apply a nominal voltage to the solenoid valve, which opens it, allowing gas to flow.
Deactivating CO2
When the CO2 sensor detects the CO2 levels are within your pre-set parameters, the controller signals to remove the voltage, which closes the solenoid valve. This works to stop gas escaping when you don't want it to. This is the case during periods where plants aren't actively photosynthesising, such as during lights off.
Using A TrolMaster Hydro-X CO2 Monitor to Remove CO2 From your Grow Room
When the CO2 sensor detects that the CO2 ppm level are above your pre-set levels, the TrolMaster Hydro-X controller can signal for an Extractor Fan to remove excess CO2. To do this, you'll need a separate CO2 device
TrolMaster Hydro-X App
If you use the TrolMaster Hydro-X App, you can receive a notification whenever CO2 levels go above or below your custom settings. You can also view current CO2 levels as well as historical data.
TrolMaster Sensors Best Practise
The sensors must stay dry and clean. Ensure that no water or condensation accumulates on the sensor to avoid failure. Your TrolMaster Hydro-X CO2 Sensor can be easily calibrated. TrolMaster recommend that you check your CO2 calibration once per year to avoid any "sensor drift" that can happen over the course of a year.
Why use the TrolMaster Hydro-X System?
Hydro-X Control System is the most intelligent and adaptable environmental control system on the market. It can control up to 512 lights, four temperature devices, two humidity devices, 2 CO2 devices, and nine preprogram devices. It is the best way to customize and control your grow room system for maximum yield.
The Hydro-X system comes with a 3-in-1 sensor detecting temperature, humidity & light. The system will alert you via the TrolMaster app on your Smartphone when any of these factors are out of your personal set ranges. Optional smoke detectors are also available to warn you of any potential fire hazards in your grow room.
Why is CO2 Essential in the Grow Room?
CO2 Is Essential For Healthy Plants
CO2 is a necessary component of photosynthesis and vital for plants' growth. Different plants require various levels of CO2 to optimize their growth. Managing CO2 in your grow room optimizes your grow room's microclimate. It helps plants achieve more abundant growth.
CO2 Helps to Increase Yields
CO2 enhancement permits your crops to reach their full potential. You can enrich the air with CO2 by using natural gas discharge via a generator or a canister of liquid CO2. CO2 splits into carbon and oxygen during photosynthesis. The oxygen is unleashed into the air while the carbon mixes with water and light to create sugar, which is then transformed into carbohydrates.
CO2 Helps to Prevent Crop Loss
Carbon dioxide is vital for plants to live. However, too much carbon dioxide can be disastrous. It can drastically decrease the number of valuable nutrients the plant produces, including iron, zinc, and vitamin C. Monitoring CO2 levels will help avoid costly crop loss and encourage healthy levels of beneficial nutrients.
