What is the unidrain Floor Stand?
The unidrain Floor Stand is a hard wearing, moulded plant pot stand. It's designed with a slope and channels to feed any runoff away, allowing your potting media to free drain.
The unidrain Floor Stands are available in two sizes. For the best results, we recommend using unidrain Floor Stands with the range of fabric Air Pruner pots:
- unidrain Floor Stands are suitable for fabric Air Pruner pots up to 16-litres
- unidrain+ Floor Stands are suitable for fabric Air Pruner pots up to 32-litres
The floor stands are designed for use with the unidrain and unidrain+ automatic drip-feeding systems. They are also used in hand-feeding drain-to-waste-only systems like the unidrain Away and unidrain+ Away systems.
Getting the Best Results - Runoff
For the best results, after feeding, you'll have a certain amount of runoff from the pots. Runoff is defined as additional nutrient solution fed to achieve a 20% over feed. It works to remove or avoid salt build up and mineral deficiencies.
Why Do I Need the unidrain Floor Stands?
If your growing plants in pots inside, then, as indicated, you'll need to deal with waste (aka: runoff). Having this done automatically is REALLY EASY! It saves you time to get on with the other jobs on your list. The unidrain and unidrain+ Floor Stands are key components for automatically dealing your waste.
No matter whether you're hand feeding a few plants or using a drip feeding system to feed more plants, you will need to deal with the run off. The Unidrain floor stands are simple to use with 25 mm fittings and pipework used to allow the runoff to drain away. Runoff is handled by the unidrain System Brain, which is a fully automated drain-away system that means you never have to worry about runoff again.
How do the unidrain Floor Stands Connect Together?
The unidrain Floor Stands connecter together using 25 mm fittings and robust pipework.
25 mm Fittings and Pipework
Depending on where the floor stands sit in your system, they’ll either use a 25 mm BSP Tee or Elbow fitted to the outlet.
The fittings connect to the stand’s outlet using a 25 mm BSP screw thread with a back nut and a pair of washers. The washers attach to either side of the stand’s skin at the outlet port. The 25 mm Tee or Elbow should point outward, away from the stand. They are connected together using a length of 25 mm IceLine.
In general, the unidrain floor stand is designed to guide all the runoff from Air Pruner pots to the unidrain System Brain, where it collects. When the runoff triggers the System Brain's in-built float-switch, it automatically pumps the runoff away. This provides you with peace of mind that the runoff is being dealt with automatically.
What Size Pots Can I Use with the unidrain Floor Stands?
The unidrain Floor Stands are perfect for using with Air Pruner, fabric plant pots up to 32-litres. The following table outlines the specifications for the unidrain and unidrain+ Floor Stands.

What is the unidrain System?
The unidrain system is a calibrated drip and drain feeding system with an automated run-to-waste system. It feeds a calibrated volume of nutrient solution direct to plant pots and collects all waste as runoff for further processing by the System Brain.
What are the Key Benefits of the unidrain System - Floor Stand?
The following key benefits highlight why the unidain Floor Stands and unidrain System is right for you:
- Automated runoff removal
- Simple to connect in runs
- Low maintenance
- Calibrated feeding
- Consistent and calibrated runoff
Automated Runoff Removal
The unidrain Floor Stands elevate the pots off the floor and provide clearance for the runoff to gravity feed back to the System Brain to collect. has one job: Pumping away waste nutrients. When runoff collects in the System Brian and builds up the float switch makes electric contact and activates the pump. The pump removes the build up to wherever you want it to, using 12.5 mm piping.
Simple to Connect in Runs
The unidrain Floor Stand is really simple to connect in runs using the 25mm elbow and Tee pieces.
Low Power Use
The unidrain System Brain only needs to operate for a short period of time whenever the float switch pushes demand to the pump, by activating. The MJ-1000 pump has lightweight power requirements, only using around 13W when the pump is running.
System Brain
When enough runoff collects in the unidrain System Brain, it raises the float switch that activates the pump. The system brain has an intelligent, in-built time delay that allows the pump to clear the majority of the runoff from the system brain after each activation. The System Brain is supplied with a non-return valve (NRV). The NRV is fitted outside the system brain and keeps the pump primed. This is key to enabling the automation of the removal of runoff.
Garden tip: Ensure the floor is level before connecting the system brain to the floor stands. The excess feed (runoff) needs to be able to freely drain to the system brain. If this isn’t possible, position the brain at the lowest point of the room. In some circumstances, you may need to raise the stands to allow the runoff to easily flow to the system brain.
Use the unidrain Away or unidrain Away+
The unidrain Away systems utilise the unidrain Floor Stands and System Brain with included pipework and fittings. The unidrain Away and Away+ systems are perfect for anyone hand feeding their pots using unidrain or unidrain+ Floor Stands and looking to save time and effort by automating the removal of runoff. Simply connecting the Floor Stands to the System Brain means you won't have to deal with the spent nutrient solution, so you can get on with another job. The System Brain's 1000-litre per hour pump will move the unwanted contents to any place you want it to i.e. to waste.
Calibrated Feeding - Fresh Nutrients Every Time
Using the unidrain system allows you to feed a calibrated volume of fresh nutrients at every feed. Along with good lighting and environmental control, calibrated feeding helps you achieve consistently great results!
Consistent and Optimal Calibrated Runoff
Depending on the media you use, over the course of 24 hours*, you'll need to achieve a consistent 20% runoff rate. Runoff does a few things:
- Replaces depleted nutrients
- Avoids salt build up
- Provides a known volume of feed with a known level of fresh nutrients
- Maintains nutrient levels for consistent growth and avoids deficiencies
unidrain systems allow you to feed your plants fresh nutrients every time. Doing this means you know they're getting everything they need for optimal performance. Recycling nutrients can see the plants strip out specific minerals, which may result in nutrient deficiencies.
Flushing fresh, highly tailored, nutrients, such as GrowDog through the media, works to maintain a constant supply of plant-accessible water and feed. This allows your plants to grow at their own pace and helps avoid issues, like nutrient lockout, improving your end results.
NOTE: *The time period depends on your media and feeding regime. This may change depending on how often you are feeding and the feed rate for the plants growth stage.
