What is Westland Garden Lime Soil Conditioner 4kg?

Westland Garden Lime makes soils less acidic, enabling plants to take up the nutrients they need for healthy growth and development. If soils become too acidic, nutrients can be locked away, plants can suffer deficiencies and feeding becomes less effective. Garden Lime is also a valuable source of calcium.

How Does Westland Garden Lime Soil Conditioner Benefit My Plants?

Garden Lime Soil Conditioner is a ready to use granule that breaks down acid soils. It works to adjust the acidity of the soil to a more neutral pH. This improves the availability of nutrients to your plants in acidic soils. It is also a great source of calcium and magnesium to encourage strong leaf growth, fruit quality and disease resistance.

How Do I Use Westland Garden Lime Soil Conditioner?

For comparison purposes, while you're out in the garden: one handful of garden lime soil conditioner is about 35g (1 ¼ oz). Garden lime soil conditioner can be applied throughout the year, but for best results use in autumn before first frosts. For normal soils, use every third year. Highly acidic soil may need an annual application.

Trees and Shrubs

Apply 10g/sq.m (1/3 oz per sq.yd) around the base of established plants. Gently fork into the soil surface without disturbing the roots. Alternatively, sprinkle the product over the soil surface, around the stem of the plant and water in well. When planting out apply 10g/sq.m (1/3 oz/sq.yd) to the bottom of the planting hole and mix well with the soil or compost when refilling the hole.

Trees and Shrubs – New plantings

Apply 135g/sq.m (5 oz/sq.yd) to the bottom of the planting hole and mix well with soil or compost when refilling the hole.

Beds & Borders

Apply 10g/sq.m (1/3 oz per sq.yd) on the soil surface and fork in. Take care that the granules do not touch the plant leaves or stems. Water in well after application.

Vegetables

Apply 10g/sq.m (1/3 oz/sq.yd) and work well into the soil.

Improving Soil

Apply 10g/sq.m (1/3 oz/sq.yd) on the soil surface and fork in well. For clay soils, increase to 15g/sq.m (1/2 oz/sq.yd) to improve structure and drainage.

Lawns

Apply 10g/sq.m (1/3 oz/sq.yd) to the grass surface. Garden Lime will improve nitrogen uptake and will help produce a greener lawn.
