WHAT ARE THOMPSON & MORGAN BOSTON DWARF BEAN SEEDS?

Dwarf Bean' Boston' produce straight, dark green, round 15 cm (6”) long pods with an excellent flavour. Sturdy and upright these plants will produce heavy crops over a lengthy picking season. This RHS AGM variety is the perfect choice for growing in containers. Heights peak at around 45 cm (18”) with a 30 cm (12”) spread.

Companion planting: Try growing beans with Nasturtiums to draw aphids away from your crop.

Garden Tip: Create a compost trench for your beans. Dig a trench, about 30 cm)deep where you intend to grow your beans. Fill it up with organic matter such as kitchen scraps, plant material and leaves, then cover it with soil. By springtime, your soil will be rich and full of moisture, and your beans will have the best environment to thrive.

HOW DO I SOW THOMPSON & MORGAN BOSTON DWARF BEAN SEEDS?

Sow dwarf bean seeds indoors from mid-April to transplant later. Direct sow outdoors from late May to July.

SOWING INDOORS

Sow your bean seeds 5 cm (2”) deep in 7.5 cm (3”) pots or trays of free-draining seed-sowing compost.

Place in a propagator at 12-25C (54-77F) till they germinate within 7–10 days.

Once germinated, grow on in cooler conditions and transplant the dwarf French beans when they are large enough to be transplanted.

Gradually acclimatise your beans to outdoor conditions over 7–10 days before planting outdoors in rich fertile, well-drained soil in a full sun position that offers some protection from strong winds.

SOWING OUTDOORS

Direct sow dwarf green beans outdoors in spring when the soil has warmed.
Sow 2 bean seeds per station at a 5 cm (2”) deep at a distance of 23 cm (9”) apart.
Plant in rows that are 45 cm (18”) apart.

Garden Tip: When beans grow, regularly hoe between the plants and water frequently. Spread a compost mulch around the base of your plants to combat dry periods.

Garden Tip: For the best results, harvest beans regularly while the pods are still young.

returns policy

As per the Consumer Contract Regulations June 2014, you can return goods and receive a full refund under the following conditions:

You have had the goods delivered within seven working days of delivery from Future Garden Ltd, this starts from the day after the goods have been signed for.
The items are unopened and in the original condition as when they were delivered to you.

The items have developed a fault during standard use.
The items are within the manufacturer's warranty period.
